Meet Kavya

Registered Psychotherapist & UNESCO Educator

(She/her)

Kavya is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a United Nations (UNESCO) Master Trainer for Social and Emotional Learning.

“Help me, I don’t feel okay” is what people say in many other words when coming for therapy. The decision to seek therapy is a brave one! It takes courage to be able to speak about one’s problems to someone new. Having said that, Kavya believes that therapy is a powerful force to change the course of our lives. In therapy, Kavya prefers a collaborative approach when working with clients, where both parties have equal responsibility for bringing about positive change. She strives to meet her clients where they are, as she understands that it can sometimes be difficult to find the motivation to change in the beginning. Kavya offers a strength-based approach to her clients, reminding them of the tools that they already possess to bring about transformative experiences. She also recognizes that it can be difficult to talk to someone else about traumatic experiences, desires, and secrets that we may not even be ready to admit to ourselves. This is where Kavya believes that providing a safe and secure space to heal is vitally important.

Kavya strives to provide a holistic approach to working with clients, incorporating elements of the mind-body- and spirit. Kavya thinks of the mind-body as two sides of the same coin, and our spirit, as the inscriptions on that coin. If we work with one element, it leads to a domino effect and transforms the other elements as well.

Kavya is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy, and she has an interest in incorporating psychodynamic elements into her sessions.

Kavya offers services in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu.
